What is sustainable?

Clothes-in-Landfill

What is sustainable? What does it mean to live a sustainable lifestyle? Do we have a misconception of sustainable fashion or vintage fashion?

Did you know … that the average American will toss out 81 pounds of clothing a year, and the clothing that ends up in landfills can sit there for 200-plus years? Even though many believe in recycling plastic bottles, reusing plastic bags, purchasing recycled paper for our paper products, and donate our used clothing to various not for profits for re-use; as much of what we donate gets packed, shipped, and re-sold … The U.S. alone sends about 21 billion pounds of textile waste to landfills every year. … by purchasing vintage clothing, you can make a difference with each vintage clothing and accessory purchase to pave the path towards a more sustainable fashion future.

Thoughts comments and recommendations are welcome to create a dialogue amongst folks who are fashion forward, sustainable users, and vintage fashion minded.
