If that is happening then your lens is probably dirty. This can easily be solved by taking a Q-Tip and some rubbing alcohol and rub the lens. You can check to see if the laser is moving by displacing it (gently move the black slider it's attached to away from where the center of the disc would be), then looking at its position after attempting to read a disc.
